Site work and new construction of a water / sewer project in Memphis, Tennessee. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.
The City of Memphis has established a policy to not extend new sewer services outside their municipal boundaries and does not allow for new sewer connections to the existing collection system. The City has requested that the ownership of all existing sewer collection systems located in unincorporated Shelby County transfer to Shelby County. The project would include the receipt of the existing collection system and the construction of a Wastewater Treatment plant located nearby the Wolf River in the Grays creek water shed. As of August 9, 2019, this project is in the conceptual phase and is on indefinite hold. An engineer has not been selected. IT is included in the Shelby County 2019-2023 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). A timeline for construction has not been determined. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
