The Jackson Middle School Health and Safety Roof Improvements project includes several scopes of work to be completed at the school in two phases over the Summer of 2019 and Summer of 2020. This work includes, but is not limited to the following: 1 ) NEW ROOF AND ROOF FALL PROTECTION a) ARCHITECTURAL i) Re-roof with SBS roofing materials and rigid insulation. ii) Replace roof hatches. iii) Add roof ladders and hatch. iv) Raise parapets and perimeter walls of some roofs to accommodate new roof level. v) Remove brick chimney. vi) Install roof fall protection anchors to comply with OSHA Standards. b) STRUCTURAL i) Install new plywood roof sheathing to increase diaphragm shear capacity on some roofs. ii) Upgrade roof structure as required for installation of fall protection. c) MECHANICAL i) Install new rooftop fans and vents with motorized dampers. ii) Install new boiler flue. iii) Demolish, relocate, or install related HVAC and plumbing items within areas of work. d) PLUMBING i) Provide new roof drains and overflow drains. ii) Demolish, relocate or install related plumbing items within areas of work. e) ELECTRICAL i) Demolish, relocate or install related electrical items within areas of work 2) ACCESSIBILITY AND LIFE SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS a) ARCHITECTURAL i) Improve existing restrooms for accessibility compliance including but not limited to: compliant signage, clearances, grab bars, and fixtures. ii) Alter casework and install accessible sink in classroom iii) Install ADA complaint guardrail and handrail assemblies in priority interior locations. iv) Install new ADA compliant lockers. v) Install new ADA compliant assistive listening system. vi) Install power door operator at exterior door adjacent to gym. b) CIVIL i) Reconfigure front parking area and walkways to meet accessibility requirements. ii) Construct new bus turnout and walkway to the north of the building. 3) MECHANICAL a) Demolish, relocate, or install related HVAC items within areas of work. 4) PLUMBING a) Provide accessible high-low drinking fountains, sink, lavatory, faucets, and water closet in restrooms. b) Demolish, relocate, or install related plumbing items within areas of work. 5) ELECTRICAL a) Demolish, relocate or install related electrical items within areas of work. 6) Demolition a) Provide for all cutting and patching as required to complete work. b) Provide for all asbestos abatement as required to complete work other than asbestos containing fire proofing above ceilings to be removed by others (not in contract). 7) Site Cleaning a) Provide construction dust mitigation of all construction activities through use of plastic barriers and air filtration of construction areas. b) Provide daily cleanup of all construction areas.
