Site work, paving and renovation of a bridge / tunnel in Bamberg, South Carolina. Design plans call for the renovation of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

As of January 2026, design work has been completed, however the project is on hold pending owner review. A timeline for contractor bidding and construction has not been disclosed. The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) requests a letter of interest and a current resume of qualifications from all interested consulting firms experienced in providing engineering services necessary for the preparation of preliminary road and bridge plans, environmental permitting, final construction plans for the roadway and bridge, and associated design/coordination services for the replacement S-385 Bridge over Smith Branch (MP 0.17) in Bamberg County. SCDOT reserves the right to modify the termini if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the State of South Carolina. Requested services include but are not limited to: project management, field surveys and mapping, environmental permitting, bridge/structural design, roadway design, hydrology/hydraulic design, geotechnical services, hazardous materials survey, utility coordination, construction phase services and other related duties deemed necessary. The project team should be capable of providing all services outlined above Disadvantaged Business Enterprise goal is established as 14% percent and will be administered in accordance with Section I.Whether or not there is a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) goal on this contract, proposer is strongly encouraged to obtain the maximum amount of DBE participation feasible on the contract.
