This project is a partnership between the National Park Service (NPS), the City of Boston and Friends of the Public Garden. The work of this project will provide structural stabilization, seismic upgrade, and bronze and stone conservation for the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial including the bronze relief panel by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens and its surrounding plaza designed by architect Charles Pollen McKim. A brief summary of the work follows: (1) Remove bronze relief, conserve off site and reinstall; (2) Remove Tennessee marble units, clean and conserve off-site and reinstall; (3) Remove top course granite units, clean and conserve off-site and reinstall new anchors; (4) Clean remainder granite units in-situ; (5) Remove metal window frame and grill units, conserve off-site and reinstall; (6) Install new structural support frame for bronze relief; (7) Install new cathotic protection; (8) Paint existing steel under plaza; and (9) Remove brick pavers, install new waterproofing, and reinstall pavers. The above-mentioned Scope of Work will be broken out in the Solicitation into work identified as the Basic Requirement and Additives. The full project scope is fully detailed in the Drawings and Specifications that will be attached to the posted solicitation. The estimated construction range for this project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Proposals will be evaluated by the Technical Evaluation Panel using the Evaluation Criteria and assigned weights identified in Sections L and M of the Solicitation. The Government anticipates award of a firm-fixed price contract on or before June 25, 2019.
