Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Athens, Georgia. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

This project is funded by a Community Development Block Grant from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the ACCGOV Housing and Community Development Department. The project consists of clearing, grading, and constructing an 8' wide concrete path connecting the parking lot of East Athens Community Center (EACC) at 400 McKinley Drive, Athens, GA 30601, and the sidewalk across from 287 E Carver Drive, Athens, GA, 30601. This path will be no greater than a 2% cross slope and meet the design standard attached for a 6" thick, welded wire reinforced, 3000 psi concrete walking path (Attachment DTL 11.1.2). The running slope should be no greater than 12%. The project will also include Stormwater management for the project area including a drop inlet and headwall complete with rip-rap. The path will include a poured-in-place concrete set of stairs complete with welded, 1-piece handrails on both sides. These stairs must have re-enforced corner edges on the stair steps. This project is to improve a pre-existing social trail used by many citizens accessing the EACC. The project will also include an option to pour a 16' by 16' by 12" footer at the connection to the EACC parking lot removing a tripping hazard created by trash collection. The project area must be kept safe at all times using barriers, fence, or tape. Erosion control must be maintained during construction. Tree protection must be used around the construction zone.
