This Contract provides for the engineering, design, manufacturing, testing, preparation for shipment, and delivery of two (2) stainless steel slide gates housed in self-contained stainless steel guides with ultrahigh molecular weight (UHMW - or equivalent) seals (Check Gates) for the DISTRICT’S M.P. 20.42 Regulating Check Structure. The CONTRACTOR shall also supply shop drawings, design calculations, installation drawings and instructions, and technical support by phone for the DISTRICT'S installation and commissioning of the Check Gates. These specifications, drawings, and operator information detail the technical and quality assurance requirements for the Check Gates. The DISTRICT is planning to reuse and retrofit the existing gate operator equipment to the new Check Gates; therefore, the CONTRACTOR shall include provisions in their gate guide design to accommodate mounting of existing Limitorque equipment (Limitorque actuators, B-Drives and stainless steel stems). The CONTRACTOR shall perform a comprehensive study of the existing Limitorque equipment to assure it meets the new Check Gate operational requirements under specified operating parameters below. The Check Gates shall consist of two flush mount, self-contained, submerged, upopening gates for two (2) of the three (3) bays that make up the check structure. The third bay within the check structure is a fixed V- Notched weir that requires no control gate. Both Check Gates will be required to operate in an all-season environment with temperatures ranging from -20° Fahrenheit to +110° Fahrenheit under 13 feet of total head on the upstream side. There is the possibility under special operating circumstances that these gates could experience a total head from the downstream of six (6) feet. These operating conditions can happen if the North Supply Canal is shut down and the South Supply Canal is in operation. These gates will be exposed to seasonal ice loading and moss loads that can build up on the gate beams and surfaces. Typical ice loading up to one (1) foot thick. The Bidder shall submit the proposed grade of stainless steel and proposed seal material specifications with their bid. As of March 15, 2019 this project is seeking requests for bids for contractors. Award of Contract is expected on April 15, 2019. The owners anticipate awarding to the lowest and best evaluated bidder, therefore estimations of costs are vendor driven. Construction is dependent upon contractor’s fabrication schedule, the owner is requiring delivery on September 15. 2019.
