In general, the Work to be completed under this Contract consists of the following principal elements: demolition of the interior of the existing hydroelectric facility, demolition of the existing flow control facility downstream isolation valve vault, demolition of the existing flow control facility, and modifications to the existing turnout valve vault; abandonment and removal of pipelines; procurement and installation of 48-inch and 42-inch cement mortar lined, tape coated and cement mortar coated or epoxy coated steel piping, switchgear, valves, flowmeter, and appurtenances; connections to Pipeline 4 and coordination with City of San Diego and the Water Authority for shutdowns and connection work; connection to The City of San Diego's 72-inch RW-CWA Pipeline and coordination with the City of San Diego and the Water Authority for shutdowns and connection work; construction of concrete vaults, stairs, and structural and architectural modifications to the existing Alvarado Hydroelectric Facility; installation of cathodic protection, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and instrumentation; site improvements including construction of storm drain pipe and structures, asphalt paving, and berms; earthwork, excavation, erosion and water control, pipe bedding, backfill, compaction, pipe materials, pipe supports, pipe welding, removal of existing pipe, pipe penetrations, coating and paint, testing and startup, site restoration and all other appurtenant work as required by the Contract Documents Bid Security: Each bid shall be accompanied by cash, certified or cashier's check, or bid bond in the amount of 10 percent of the total bid price payable to the Water Authority as a guarantee that the bidder, if the bid is accepted, will execute the agreement and provide the required bonds, certificates of insurance, and endorsements within 15 days of the receipt by the bidder of the Notice of Award.
