This Public Works project will complete the installation of either 1) application of an Asphalt Rubber and Aggregate Membrane (ARAM) System 1 or System 2 Cape Seal with a Type II Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) Slurry Seal or 2) application of a Type II RAP Slurry Seal only, on a variety of streets within the City of Palmdale, totaling an estimated 2.5 to 3 million square feet (this quantity is not guaranteed nor limited to; project maps will designate the work locations and type of work to be performed). The work may consist of, but is not limited to: procurement of permits, mobilization, designation / certification of asphalt rubber binder applicator(s) and ARAM contractors and/or subcontractors, written notifications to residents, public no-parking postings, BMPs, surface preparation (including but not limited to weed killing, cleaning, crack filling, thermoplastic and/or paint removal, cover/protect existing utility surfaces, etc.), ARAM System 1 3/8" Cape Seal application, ARAM System 2 3/8" Cape Seal application (including leveling course), Type II RAP Slurry Seal application (i.e. slurry only), inventory of existing striping, new thermoplastic signing and striping, traffic loop restoration (if necessary), utility adjustment (if necessary), protection of survey monuments, traffic control letter(s), and traffic control setup and maintenance in accordance with the approved letter(s) and the most current version of the CA MUTCD. Please note that the City will no longer implement the former Palmdale Economic Opportunities Program (PEOP) nor will the former Local Vender Preference program be applied to closely competing bids. These former programs were canceled by the Palmdale City Council in March 2019.
