project location 6 TH ST (BROOKRIDGE AVE TO NORTHWESTERN AVE) The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is: 5367.1 SY of pavement removal, 4829.79 SY of 8" PCC pavement, 60 LF of Water Main, Trenchless, PVC 8" dia, 36 LF of Water Main, Trenched, PVC, 8" dia, 1661 LF of Footing Drain Collector and Fittings, PVC, 6" dia, 111 LF of Storm Sewer, Trenched, RCP, 15" dia, 5082.5 SY of Special Backfill, 6" depth and miscellaneous related work and appurtenances in accordance with the contract documents Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond is to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council, shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract, and shall guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of two (2) years from and after completion and acceptance by the City. The guaranteed maintenance period shall be four (4) years for new paving. Work shall commence as soon as possible after award and approval of the contract and performance bond. Work shall be completed no later than the designated contract completion date of November 29, 2024. Should the contractor fail to complete the work by this date, liquidated damages of $1,000 per calendar day will be assessed. The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days after receipt of bids, and no bid may be withdrawn during this period.
