Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to an educational facility in Brookings, South Dakota. Completed plans call for the addition of a 13,100-square-foot educational facility; and for the renovation of a educational facility.
As of August 27, 2019, the addition and renovation project is underway and remains behind schedule. Project consists of general construction for two additions, one 12,000 square foot fitness and gymnasium addition and one 1.100 square foot loading dock addition, including associated site, structural, mechanical, and electrical work. Work also includes alterations to existing middle school, including interior finishes at cafeteria, administration, media center, special education, and commons spaces, Each bid must be accompanied by bid security in the form of a bid bond in the amount of 10% of the maximum amount of the bid or a cashier's check or certified check in the amount of 5% of the maximum amount of the bid and made payable unconditionally to the Brookings School District 5-1. The Bid Security will be retained by the Owner as liquidated damages if the successful Bidder refuses or fails to enter into a Contract or to furnish a Contractor's Performance and Payment Bond, and meet the required provisions for insurance, in accordance with the Specifications, within 10 days after being notified of the award of the Contract. Upon request, in accordance with South Dakota Codified Law 5-18B-1, one copy of Electronic OR Paper Plans and Specifications shall be furnished, without charge, to each Prime Contractor resident in South Dakota who intends, in good faith, to submit a hid to the Owner, Additionally, if a paper copy is provided under the conditions of SDCL 5-188-1, in consideration of the documents being provided at no charge, unsuccessful bidders agree to return the documents to the Reprographic Source listed above, within thirty (30). days after the bid opening. Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond shall be furnished by the successful Bidder; each in the amount of 100% of the Contract price. Owner reserves the right to reject a Bid which is in any way incomplete or irregular, the right to waive informalities or irregularities in a Bid received, and ther.g.i. Ett to accept a Bid which in the Owner's judgment is in the Owner's best interests.
