It is proposed to rehabilitate Glenn Curtiss Bridge that carries Glenn Curtiss Boulevard over Meadowbrook Parkway in the Town of Hempstead. The work includes but is not limited to structural and civil rehabilitation and replacement. The structural work includes: the removal and replacement of the concrete deck. The removal and replacement of shear studs. The bridge approach slabs will be removed and replaced. The expansion joints will be replaced at the abutments with armorless joints and modular joints. The removal of the existing rocker bearings and replaced with elastomeric bearings. The ramps and sidewalks that are removed within the rehabilitation limits will be replaced and comply with current ADA standards. Other structural work includes the repair of cracks and spalls in the abutments and reconstruction of the bridge pedestals to accommodate the new elastomeric bearing. Other incidental work is to be expected as well.
