Work begins at the River Pumping Plant on the San Juan River approximately 11 miles west of Farmington, NM and terminates at the Frank Chee Willetto Reservoir approximately 17 miles east of Shiprock, NM in San Juan County, NM The principal components of the work are listed under the project description below: The Navajo - Gallup Water Supply Project (NGWSP) is a major infrastructure project that once constructed, will convey a reliable municipal and industrial water supply from the San Juan River to the eastern section of the Navajo Nation, southwestern portion of the Jicarilla Apache Nation, and the city of Gallup, New Mexico via about 280 miles of pipeline, several pumping plants, and two water treatment plants. The principal components of work for Reach 1 include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide: a. Joint repairs for 4.8 miles of existing 42 - inch ductile iron line pipe. b. Line pipe blowoff valves and air valves replacements. c. Manway installation. d. Construction of standpipe at pipeline apex. e. Construction of manually operated plunger valve. As of October 1, 2025, this project is under construction and estimated to be completed in October 2026. A general contractor has been identified.
