Renovation of an educational facility in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
In July 2017, Rock Springs High School was rated the number one capacity issue in the state. Plan One/Architects was selected by SCSD#1 and the SFD to develop a MCER to address the continued over-capacity situation at Rock Springs High School. The Most Cost Effective Remedy as identified in the study was to build a portion of the Satellite High School project that could accommodate a minimum 167 students in 44,000 square feet. The 2018 Statewide Capacity rankings recently released by the SFD continue to show Rock Springs High School as the number one high school capacity issue in the State. This information further supports the real, immediate, need for a solution to be implemented for the students of Sweetwater County School District No. 1. Increment 1 is designed to focus on educational space under the District's Academy model. Physical education and food service are addressed through multi-purpose space. It is also possible for physical education to be addressed at Rock Springs High School through coordinated student scheduling. Per the owner, as of May 12, 2020, construction has started on this project. Owner states that construction started in April 2020 and is anticipated to be completed in 2021.
