Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Athens, Georgia. Completed plans call for the addition of a educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; laboratory facility; and laboratory facility.
The closed solicitation is below, for reference: This project will relocate the current anatomy lab facility (located in UGA Building 1066) to space in the former large animal teaching hospital (the northeastern end of building 1070). After relocation to the new building, the existing lab space of roughly 7,000 gross square feet will be increased to roughly 17,000 gross sf and would include a new overhead rail transport system, cooler, freezer, study area, lockers, restrooms, and a roughly 7,600sf lab. The scope includes a new mechanical room above the main laboratory space, new roof, and chilled water / condensate line that would connect to the chilled water loop in this area. Life Safety and ADA accessibility issues should also be addressed as part of this project. Additionally, as part of the scope, a computational fluid dynamics study should be completed to confirm desired and required air quality levels are maintained within the renovated spaces. The preliminary Stated Cost Limitation (SCL) or construction cost of the Project is estimated at $6,375,000. *As of July 23,2025, construction is underway. An architect and construction manager has been awarded.
