Demolition, site work and new construction of a fitness / recreation center in Washington, District of Columbia. Completed plans call for the demolition of a fitness / recreation center; for the construction of a fitness / recreation center; and for site work for a fitness / recreation center.
The project will build a new Congress Heights Recreation Center that will include enhanced amenities such as a gymnasium, kitchen, flexible computer lounge, and multipurpose spaces. The project will also replace the existing playground and include additional park space improvements. An FY20 enhancement of $3 million was provided for additional family-oriented amenities, to include a bowling alley and a multi-purpose room with a stage and the capacity to screen motion pictures. As of December 14, 2022, this project is in the design phase. An architect has been selected for the project. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to summer of 2023.
