Renovation of a parking garage in Frederick, Maryland. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a parking garage.
ON HOLD INDEFINITELY To demolish the existing Church Street Garage and rebuild a new expanded Church Street Garage. The new garage would include a modern comfort station (restrooms) for the public and potential office space on the south side of the facility as well as entry/exit lanes on both the south and north sides of the garage. The garage will have the best applicable technology available, including EV charging spaces, directional and informational signage and a planned roof with possible solar panels expected on the garage. A design/build contractor will be secured to develop a plan to demolish the existing 393 space Church Street Garage and replace it with a new parking garage that is to have between 525 - 550 spaces. This project will use the existing footprint of the current garage and expand the facility to street level on the south side within the footprint and it is anticipated that construction will begin in FY 2025. This project is included in the city’s fy 2026-2031 Capital Improvement Program. As of July 1, 2025, per owner, entire thing is on hold indefinitely. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
