Renovation of a mixed-use development in Los Angeles, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 9,173-square-foot, five-story above grade laboratory facility.

A general contractor has been awarded. Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Los Angeles, responses to the University's prequalification documents for a Lump Sum contract are sought from prospective prime contractor bidders (hereafter "bidders") for the following project: Engineering VI 5th Floor Improvements. The University has determined that bidders who submit bids on this project must be prequalified. Additionally, University has determined that Mechanical subcontractors must also be prequalified. Bidders who wish to selfperform the Mechanical trade work are also required to submit a Prequalification Questionnaire (Mechanical Subcontractor). Bidders must submit at least one (1) completed Prequalification Questionnaire (Prime Contractor) for themselves and at least one (1) completed Prequalification Questionnaire (Mechanical Subcontractor) for a Mechanical Subcontractor. Bidder are encouraged to submit Prequalification Questionnaires for more than one Mechanical Subcontractor. The University will post on the University's Portal a list of successfully prequalified Bidders and the successfully prequalified Mechanical Subcontractors submitted by each. Only those listed prequalified Mechanical Subcontractors submitted by prequalified Bidders will be approved by University to perform the above-designated portion of the work for that prequalified Bidder. Bidders who do not submit at least one (1) successfully prequalified Mechanical Subcontractor will not be prequalified and will be ineligible to submit a bid on this project. Prequalified bidders will be required to have the following California contractor's license(s): B License (General Building) Improvements to approximately 9,173 GSF of unoccupied space on the fifth floor of the Engineering VI - Phase 2 building for use by the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science (HSSEAS). Work includes the build-out of wet labs for advanced materials and medical engineering research and related office space for graduate students. Open labs will be fitted-out with modular lab stations, fume hoods, and lab equipment. Shared office space will be furnished with modular stations. Fire rated demising walls shall be provided to contain noise, heat-generation, and odors. New HVAC equipment, pumps, air handler and exhaust fan equipment shall be installed on the roof. Specific scope includes the provision of partitions; ceilings, lighting, casework, and signage; installation of lab sinks, eye wash stations, and floor drains; provision of concrete pads and framing to support roof mounted mechanical equipment; provision of mechanical ducting and system controls; modifications of electrical room equipment to support the program; provision of conduit for audio visual, telecommunications and security systems; modifications to building fire alarm, fire protection and mechanical systems; and repairs to building finishes impacted by the work. Modifications to existing building HVAC system including provision of mechanical ducting and system controls; provision of new equipment, pumps, air handler and exhaust fan equipment on the roof. Persons arriving later than said time will not be allowed to submit prequalification documents or submit bids as prime contractors. Participants shall meet at Capital Programs Building, 1060 Veteran Avenue (follow signs to the meeting room), UCLA campus (refer to the online UCLA Campus Map). Attendee shall be a staff member of the prime contractor bidder's firm who will be actively involved in responding to this Prequalification, and who is highly knowledgeable of the firm's potential response to the prequalification criteria. 2. Attendees are advised that parking may be difficult. Attendees must allow ample time to drive to the above location in heavy traffic, find a parking space, walk to the building, and arrive in the designated Meeting Room prior to the required time. It is currently anticipated that the Conference will last at least 2 hours. Any person or entity not satisfied with the outcome of the prequalification must file a writ challenging the outcome within 10 calendar days from the date of the University's written notice regarding prequalification determination. Any assertion that the outcome of the prequalification process was improper will not be a ground for a bid protest. The dates, times, and location set for receiving and opening of bids will be set forth in an Advertisement for Bids. The University reserves the right to reject any or all responses to Prequalification Questionnaires and to waive non-material irregularities in any response received. All information submitted for prequalification evaluation will be considered official information acquired in confidence, and the University will maintain its confidentiality to the extent permitted by law. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Prequalified Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $13 per hour as of 10/1/15, $14 per hour as of 10/1/16, and $15 per hour as of 10/1/17) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements.
