The project is to provide additions for the purpose of providing Full Day Kindergarten to the schools. Project(s) consist of a one-story addition to the existing school(s), with minor wall renovation where the existing school areas tie-in at the new access corridor locations. Project includes new stormwater features and engineered infrastructure for on grade and underground items; plumbing, mechanical, electrical building systems, and tie-in to existing building systems. The project will be constructed in ONE phase. The existing building and site shall remain in operation throughout the duration of this project. The Owner shall provide work under separate contracts to provide the infrastructure for building network, the Public Address system, Clock system, building security and controls system and provide AV integration to the new facility. These Separate Contracts shall all be coordinated and overseen by the General Contractor. All bids must be in strict compliance with provisions of the Classroom Additions at Grassfield Elementary School, Western Branch Primary School, and Greenbrier Primary School. The right to waive any and all informalities and to determine responsibility of all bidders is reserved to Chesapeake Public Schools. The Owner reserves the right to negotiate any aspect of this Bid with the lowest responsible and responsive bidder. No bid or any part thereof may be withdrawn or canceled or modified for ninety (90) days after the Bid Opening with the exception that Bids may be withdrawn after opening in accordance with the procedures for Withdrawal of Bids in accordance with Section 2.2-4330 of the Code of Virginia. A bidder's bond or certified check will be required in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the Base Bid.
