Site work for a transportation facility in Los Angeles, California. Conceptual plans call for site work for a transportation facility.
Metro is evaluating a new light rail transit (LRT) line that will connect southeast LA County to downtown Los Angeles, serving the cities and communities of downtown Los Angeles, unincorporated Florence-Graham community of LA County, Vernon, Huntington Park, Bell, Cudahy, South Gate, Downey, Paramount, Bellflower, Cerritos and Artesia. The West Santa Ana Branch Transit Corridor (WSAB) Project is a 19-mile corridor undergoing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)/Environmental Impact Report (EIR) process to prepare the corridor for LRT. In the future, both developments could be served two stations planned on Metro's West Santa Ana Branch light rail line. Metro is evaluating the feasibility and potential benefits of delivering WSAB through a Public-Private Partnership (P3) program. P3s do not provide additional funding, but may enhance financial capacity to advance construction in certain cases, along with other potential benefits to the project. Metro is engaging with the P3 industry to explore options to enhance financial capacity in order to advance construction of the full corridor. As of May 17, 2023, a prospective developer has been identified. The project has been approved by the LA Metro Board. Funding has not been received for this project. The groundbreaking for this project is anticipated in 2023-2025. If this project becomes fully funded, it can be completed and in operation by 2028 for the Olympic Games. Information regarding a design team and a general contractor is not available. *This project is included in the initial compilation of projects for consideration in Metro's Mobility Concept Plan in relation to the 2028 Olympics. This list has not been reviewed by the Games Mobility Executives. This project will continue to be updated as further information becomes available. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
