The following is for historical purposes: BACKGROUND: In November 2017, the City adopted the Virginia Drive Special Plan, following completion of the Virginia & Lake Highland Transportation and Land Use Study, to guide strategic growth in the Virginia Drive area, while ensuring the nature and Lake Highland Drive & Alden Road Realignment and Utility Project Neighborhood Relations Supervisor Cindy Light from City of Orlando . 31 Aug The City of Orlando has started the design phase for the Lake Highland Drive & Alden Road Realignment and Utility Project. The project is a result of the 2017 Virginia & Lake Highland Transportation and Land Use Study and 2017 Virginia Drive Special Plan, which identified opportunities to improve the transportation infrastructure in these neighborhoods. This project will improve the streetscape along Lake Highland Drive, adding amenities that include traffic calming, brick restoration and new crosswalks and increase connectivity in the area with a phased extension of Alden Road. Estimated completion for the transportation project is Spring 2023. As part of the project, in conjunction with OUC, the city will be replacing aging water and wastewater lines with new, upsized piping between Orange Avenue and Bumby Avenue, including along Lake Highland Drive from Thornton Avenue to In accordance with Section 287.055 (10), Florida Statutes, the City of Orlando declares that all or any portion of the documents and work papers prepared and submitted pursuant to this Notice of Request, shall be subject to reuse by the City.
