Renovation of a mixed-use development in Lawrence, Kansas. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a 183,525-square-foot educational facility.
Oliver Hall was built in 1966 and totals 183,525 gross square feet. It has been determined that it is not cost effective to renovate the facility. It will be critical to protect the South Dining Commons and Downs Residence Hall during demolition. The facility will need to be abated of hazardous materials before demolition can start. Disconnect all utility infrastructure and raze the building. Fill in the basement area with soil and blend the grading into surrounding landscape. This project is included in the state's FY 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Program. As of May 23, 2022, further details regarding design and construction timelines have not been identified. Funding has not been allocated. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
