Site work for a water / sewer project in Andover, Massachusetts. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

UPDATE : This project would include a full demolition and replacement of the Fish Brook Pumping Station, including a full redesign that conforms with all current regulations and industry standards. A new intake would be permitted and constructed on the Merrimack River, designed to withstand seasonal variations in river level, and low elevation associated with maintenance of the Great Stone Dam in Lawrence. Several options were evaluated for the intake, including a direct intake, gate house, and a radial collector system. The existing pumping configuration (2 small, 2 large) would be replaced with 3 large pumps with VFDs. One pump would have the ability to meet off-peak season needs, while 2 pumps would have the ability to meet peak season needs. The third pump would serve as a backup for redundancy purposes. The pumping station would have the capability to be able to be operated remotely through the SCADA system, reducing the need for staff to travel to and from the station each time the pump speeds need to be adjusted. Cost estimates have been updated based on a 2023 report drafted by the Department’s environmental consulting firms. Project is in Town of Andover capital budget fy 2026-2030 CIP ______________________________________________________________________ UPDATE:https://andoverma.gov/DocumentCenter/View/13676/Town-Managers-Recommended-Capital-Improvement-Program-FY2025---FY2029 This project would include a full demolition and replacement of the Fish Brook Pumping Station, including a full redesign that conforms with all current regulations and industry standards. Originally constructed in 1965, the station was capable of pumping water from both Fish Brook and the Merrimack River in order to augment the natural yield of Haggetts Pond. Over the years, the ability to draw water from the Merrimack River was greatly reduced, requiring the installation of a submersible pump near the river intake, to aid in maintaining proper water levels at the impoundment. This project is included in the town's FY 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Program. As of September 13, 2023, information regarding a design firm and the general contractor selection timeline has not been disclosed. A firm construction timeline has not been released. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
