**As of January 31, 2020, project has been awarded. start date will be sometime in Spring. The Kenai Peninsula Borough hereby invites qualified firms to submit a firm price for acceptance by the Borough to place gravel on the following North, South and West region roads: West Region: 930 cubic yards KPB Type II (Scotch Run area) Q&A Deadline: September 23, 2019 by 5:00 PM Gravel upgrade of Scotch Run. Project will begin at the intersection of Scotch Run and continue south on Scotch Run for approximately 2,024'. Work will include, but not be limited to, capping the existing roads with KPB TYPE II Borrow. Results from a current gradation test must be submitted prior to work commencing. A gradual transition will be required at each end of the project. No excavation is proposed. Borrow must be compacted to at least 95% compaction of the maximum density. All work will comply with KPB Chapter 14.06 Road Standards, and applicable sections of the State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities "STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION 2004". Since the disturbed area is less than one acre, a SWPPP is not required; however, the contractor will be responsible for controlling any storm water so that it does not leave the construction area. Estimate of Quantities Fill quantities have been estimated based on the following: 1) Scotch Run is an average of 24 wide and the maintained portion of the roadway is approximately 2,024' long. Quantity includes transitions to existing driveways, public approaches and roadways. 2) KPB staff will provide gravel depth for each road prior to commencement of the project. 3) Contractor shall be solely responsible for initiating, maintaining, and supervising all safety precautions and programs necessary in connection with the work. Contractor shall take all precautions for the safety of, and shall provide all protection to prevent damage, injury or loss to (1) all employees on the work site or adjacent thereto and all other persons, including employees, who may be affected by performance of the Contract; (2) all work and all materials and equipment to be incorporated therein; and (3) all other property, including that of Owner. Contractor shall comply with all applicable laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, and orders of any public authority regarding damage or loss to any property caused in whole or in part by Contractor, any subcontractor(s) or anyone directly or indirectly employed by any of them, or by anyone for whose acts the Contractor is liable.
