Based on a comprehensive inspection and condition assessment of the 15 million gallon (MG) finished water reservoir in 2019/2020, multiple repairs and improvements were identified including the following: Demolition of the existing wood gates, stems, and appurtenances; Removal of corrosion and repair of concrete twin tees and concrete beams; Removal of the existing coating on the inlet and outlet steel standpipes and associated structural platform support and re-coating; Removal of the existing coating on the overflow pipe and vent pipe and recoating; Replacing the 18" drain valve and appurtenances; Installing support brackets under the twin tee stems at the north and south sides of tank where the twin tees rest on wall; Removing the existing cathodic protection anodes from inlet and outlet standpipe and replace with new anodes; Repair of the corrosion on the handrail around standpipe platform; Removal of the coating that is flaking off all concrete column bases; and Gate structure hatch replacement. The project also includes the replacement of the four 36-inch diameter clearwell valves, which have reached the end of their useful life. The valves will be replaced with new 36-inch butterfly valves with electric actuators, which have been pre-purchased by the City. Other minor improvements will include the relocation of the chemical injection points for sodium hydroxide inside the finished water pipe located below the concrete floor of the pipe gallery.
