Saving Project...

Renovation of a library in Bexley, Ohio. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library.

As of April 6, 2023, this project has been completed. An architect and general contractor have not been confirmed. *The previous solicitation is listed below for reference The Bexley Public Library (“BPL” or “Library”) seeks to establish a prequalified listing of architectural design firms that will be available to provide design services for the Library located at 2411 E. Main Street, Bexley, Ohio (“Main Library”). This request seeks qualifications and proposals from qualified professional design firms, as provided by Ohio Revised Code Section 153.68, capable of providing services for the Main Library. The Library will assume that each firm submitting its qualifications in response to this RFQ is interested in all aspects of the scope of this RFQ. Each firm submitting qualifications is requested to provide an annual update to the submittal to keep its qualifications current for consideration. The Library announces its intent to contract for professional design services for upgrades to the Main Library building (approximately 42,000 sq. ft.), beginning with facility assessment and programming and planning to define the scope and budget for the project to use for a potential ballot issue and capital campaign to provide funding and then to provide design and related construction administration services when funds are available for the project (all of which is referred to as “design services”). The estimated budget for the project is estimated to be equal to or less than $8,000,000. The Library is governed by Sections 3375.33 to 3375.39 of the Ohio Revised Code and is a school district library. The Library provides the community with various educational and literary resources. The Library is fiscally independent of the Bexley City School District Board of Education, although the Board of Education serves in a ministerial capacity as the taxing authority for the Library. The determination to request approval of a tax levy and the role and purpose of the levy, are discretionary decisions made solely by the Board of Library Trustees. Once those decisions are made, the Board of Education must put the levy on the ballot. There is no potential for the Library to provide a financial benefit to or impose a financial burden on the Board of Education.
