Site work for a transportation facility in Portage, Indiana. Completed plans call for site work for a transportation facility.
The contract work consists of installing approximately 1,940' of new track, replacement of 600' of existing track, and two new #10 turnouts at the railroad connections for US Steel and a future Ports of Indiana railroad connection to the Norfolk Southern Railroad on the west side of the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor. The scope of work includes new rail track, turnouts, one paved rail crossing, excavation, relocation of sanitary sewer, and all other work required to complete the project. Bids shall be submitted on the proper bid form and delivered in sealed envelopes bearing the name and address of the bidders, all as described in the Instructions to Bidders, which accompanies the specifications. A Bidder's Bond, made payable to the PORTS OF INDIANA must be enclosed with the bid. Said bond shall be in the minimum amount of five percent of the maximum bid. The contract for this work shall be awarded to the lowest and best bidder who submits a bid for the performance of the work, however, the Ports of Indiana reserves the right to reject any or all bids at its discretion.
