Site work for a water / sewer project in Austin, Texas. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The reclaimed water system consists of two dead end segments, one from SAR and the other from Walnut. This project is part of a series of five projects that will connect the two segments and provide more reliable service to reclaimed water customers. This project includes the installation of 4,500 feet of 24-inch Ductile Iron and HDPE reclaimed water main, along with corresponding appurtenances, in the Travis Heights neighborhood along Fairmount Avenue, Alameda Drive, East Side Drive, and Monroe Street. Speed cushions are mounds of asphalt (Type D, Hot Mix Asphalt) placed in series across the width of the road. The speed cushions will be constructed as ten feet (10') long x six and one half feet (6.5') wide The speed cushion is laid with the longest length parallel to the flow of traffic. Each speed cushion has a flat top in the center, with four sloped sides, those at each end are the approach and departure slopes, the other two are side slopes. The design height of the flat top of the cushion is three inches (3"). Tolerances of +/- 1/4 " from the design height of 3" provide for a minimum height of two and three-quarter inches (2 3/4 "), and a maximum height of three and one-quarter inches (3 1/4 "). The side edges are 18" wide, tapered to a slope of 1:6, and the approach and departure edges are 24" long, tapered to a slope of 1:8. A keyway, a minimum twelve inches (12") wide and one inch (1") deep is required around the entire perimeter of the speed cushion, which can either be milled, or sawcut and excavated. Each speed cushion is temporarily marked with traffic marking tape, and permanently marked (after acceptance) with thermoplastic pavement markings and raised pavement markers Located at: 1800 Travis Heights Blvd to 211 W Monroe St.
