Site work and new construction of a civil project in Richmond, British Columbia. Design plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and water / sewer project.
Install a large diameter water main within a tunnel crossing under the Fraser River that will withstand and remain fully operational following the Maximum Credible Earthquake. The new crossing will also provide increased capacity to meet future demand to communities south of the Fraser River, and will be protected from scour. TIMELINE: In preliminary design. Completion of the preliminary design is anticipated in late 2026 or early 2027 after which approval to proceed to the next detailed design phase will be sought. Construction is anticipated to commence in 2029 or 2030 and may take approximately five years to complete. Further update in spring 2027. Construction budget is unreleased.
