For RFQ Design - Professional Architectural and Engineering Services for Elementary Schools Prototype OCPS is seeking architectural firms with experience designing and constructing elementary school prototypes to develop an OCPS specific elementary school prototype design. The proposed elementary prototype design should: a. Be able to accommodate approximately 830 total student stations. Through flexible planning, the prototype design should also be able to be configured to create multiple school models that would house 500 to 1000 student stations as needed. b. Be able to be enlarged or reduced to house increased/decreased student capacity while maintaining the functionality of the floor plan relationships. c. Be adaptable to varying site conditions, solar orientations and parcel sizes per the Orange County Public School Siting Regulations. d. Easily be reused with minimal architectural building re-design. e. Be built from competitive construction systems and materials. f. Be flexible to incorporate future growth. g. Be able to accommodate alternative energy sources design options. h. Accommodate educational curriculum and programs for an elementary school per the State Requirements for Educational Facilities Space and Occupant Design Criteria table. i. Have a functional and efficient layout. School designs should offer unique, compact and cost effective proposals for the twenty-first century learning environment. Innovative approaches to pedagogy, advanced building design, industrialized construction techniques, inclusion of state of the art technology, and building flexible options are encouraged. Submissions shall be evaluated based on: a. Proposed architectural, engineering and consultant team's experience in designing elementary school prototypes. b. Examples of past elementary school prototypes. c. Proposed design process for developing the elementary school prototype including programming and working with district stakeholders. d. Proposing team's QA/QC process for elementary school design. e. Proposing firms with a constructed elementary school prototype in the State of Florida are preferred. The Architect and Engineer team is to provide all professional services to deliver to the owner a safe, fully functional elementary school meeting all necessary requirements. School designs shall meet the current version of the OCPS Design Guidelines. General scope items within the site package include but are not limited to parking areas, bus loop/drop off, outdoor instructional spaces, exterior walkways, exterior canopies, underground utilities, storm water retention, landscaping, irrigation, site lighting and specialty equipment. This work includes but is not limited to architectural/engineering services for master planning, programming, program verification, schematic design, design development, construction documents, permitting, bidding, and construction administration. Expected deliverables include, but are not limited to: Facilities Condition Assessment, Facilities List and Space Allocation Analysis, Educational Specifications, Cost Estimates, Construction Documents, Phasing Plans, FISH Plans, Map and 208A Form, Design Calculations, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, Color Charts, Finish Schedules, and Project Schedules. The Architect will be required to certify that the project meets one of three Florida Statute mandated sustainable standards and to submit all required checklists. OCPS intends to select multiple architectural firms, but reserves the right to utilize one or more firms as required, contingent on the district's needs. Budget to meet FDOE cost-per-student station limits based on the year of construction along with related site costs. All submissions shall have a total building cost within prescribed school type ranges without exceeding the FDOE cost-per-student station limits as described in F.S. 235-435. Target Schedule: OCPS Board approval of selected A/E's: February 2020 Bid Bond Required No The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
