Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Bowmanville, Ontario. Completed plans call for the construction of a 114,600-square-foot, one-story above grade clubhouse / community center; and for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

*As of June 11,2025, the project was awarded to J.J. McGuire General Contractors Inc., with an awarded amount of $60,735,610.64* The Municipality is soliciting proposals from qualified General Contractors with demonstrated experience of projects of similar size, scope and complexity to submit a Proposal for General Contracting Services for the new South Bowmanville Recreation Centre (SBRC). The SBRC project is divided into 2 phases, the Municipality intends to enter into a contract for the construction of Phase 1. It is essential that the General Contractors intending to bid on this project have the expertise, experience, technical skills, bonding/surety requirements, financial standing and sufficient capital and capacity to successfully complete the Tendered work. The Municipality intends to award the Contract based on the Proposal which best supports the Municipalitys requirements. The new South Bowmanville Recreation Complex will be located at 2375 Baseline Road, Bowmanville, ON, which is also home to Clarington Fields. Clarington Council approved $52.5 million to construct Phase 1 of the new facility, which will include a municipal road, a full-sized double gymnasium and multi-purpose rooms for registered and drop-in programs; a FIFA sized sports dome and indoor walking track; and an outdoor skating trail. As part of the motion, Council also committed to using the findings of Clarington's Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan to precisely identify the need for other amenities, such as indoor ice rinks, an aquatic centre, or other facilities. Clarington Council has approved the addition of an aquatics centre and playground with splash pad as Phase 2 of this project in the amount of $28 million.
