Saving Project...

Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Vancouver, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a clubhouse / community center; educational facility; fire / police facility; and library.

Replacement of the West End Community Centre with a larger new-build facility, including a new ice rink and an expanded Joe Fortes Library. There could also be seniors' spaces, arts and culture facilities, childcare, new outdoor amenities, and a new on-site facility for Fire Hall No. 6. The redevelopment would also entail a replacement and expansion of King George Secondary School. TIMELINE: Conceptual planning is ongoing. The Renewal Plan has been endorsed. Work to secure funding for the renewal continues, and construction will not commence until funding is secured. Construction is anticipated to be implemented through multiple phases and capital plans, based on funding and renewal priorities. Schedules may be confirmed once funding is secured. Further update in spring 2025. *This work is supported by the City of Vancouver, Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, Vancouver Public Library, Vancouver School District and the West End Community Centre Association.
