Demolition, site work, new construction and renovation of a municipal facility in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 33,852-square-foot, two-story above grade municipal facility; for the demolition of a municipal facility; for the renovation of a municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.
Slightly more than 80 staff are expected to be housed in the new facility; the Project will be built on the existing City Hall and the former Fire Hall #1 lands. The building project will be an energy efficient two storey building that consists of the following: Site Development: new water and sewer services; landscaping soft and hard features Paved parking lot that is rebuilt and expanded, with energized parking spaces Bike racks and an enclosed bike structure Demolition of the existing 1966 City Hall and the former Fire Hall #1 (abandoned) New building area of approximately 3,145 square (sq.) metres including: New basement of 580 sq. metres Main floor area of 1,190 sq. metres Second floor area of 1,250 sq. metres (including 175 sq. metres for future offices) Mechanical equipment in a roof top penthouse area of 125 sq. metres Renovation of the existing 1987 City Hall of 760 sq. metres Energy efficient equipment including biomass and electric boilers and heat pumps. TIMELINE: Tender is cancelled. If/when project re-tender will be issued is undetermined at this time. Coverage is discontinued.
