Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Killeen, Texas. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a educational facility.
May 2020 Bond Among the suggested bond items are: Construction of two elementary schools at $42 million each to open in fall 2023; Rebuilding of Harker Heights and Peebles elementary schools at $45 million each to open in fall 2024; Renovation of Ellison High School for $35 million; and, Improvements to Ellison, Harker Heights, and Shoemaker high school athletic stadiums for $56 million total. If approved by the board, the stadium upgrades would appear as a separate bond item. The committee also recommended using the district's Strategic Facilities Plan (SFP) Fund Balance to finance the construction of a new $67 million middle school to open by fall 2024 and a new $42 million elementary school to open by fall 2023. As of June 1, 2020, The Board of Trustees voted to cancel the $265 million bond election.
