Project of phased major renovations to the east sector of the Metropolitan highway (highway 40) in the Municipality of Montreal. The project consists of a major rehabilitation project, including the reconstruction of the outer edges of the slabs and the side barriers, with the goal of avoiding any major interventions for a period of 25 years. The major rehabilitation of the 5.2 km eastern section of the highway involves upgrading the structures between Provencher and Saint-Laurent Boulevards to slow their deterioration and ensure their long-term viability, modernization of drainage systems, replacement of deck expansion joints, lighting systems and intelligent transportation systems. TIMELINE: Preparation of plans and specification is underway and is carried out by construction packages. Following the request for proposals 2705-25-KA01/20122999 the owner has awarded the firm AtkinsRéalis to provide soil and material testing during the construction of the first construction package. Tender for the contractor of the first construction package is anticipated in fall/late 2026. Notes: - The project is included into the list of major projects of of the Quebec Treasury Board Secretariat under the number 323. - The project will be implemented jointly with the repair work on the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel. - The owner is performing some maintenance work and spot resurfacing in the area pending completion of the main project design and tendering process.
