As of January 14, 2022, two developers have been selected for this solicitation. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2023. .................. Another affordable housing project on state-owned land appears to be in the works. The state of California has issued a request for qualification from developers for two Tahoe properties totaling more than 11 acres, at 1860 Lake Tahoe Blvd. and 1029 Tata Lane. According to the state, the California Tahoe Conservancy acquired the two Tahoe properties more than 30 years ago with an eye on eventually developing at least a portion of them. A list of qualifications from developers would be due by Feb. 21. The request for qualifications states the property could house up to 100 units, with an emphasis on workforce housing. Potential developers for the site should be able to demonstrate their ability to deliver projects that meet goals for affordability, innovation in housing types and construction, efficiency, accessibility, sustainability, outreach, partnerships/collaborations, state planning priorities and keeping a lid on development costs. A conceptual plan, team introduction and demonstration of financial capacity should also be part of the qualifications package. Following the RFQ, the state will issue a request for proposals for the property. That document will take into account not only the state's goals but feedback from local residents who participated in an informational event late last year about developing the site.
