Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Orange City, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

Each Bidder shall accompany its bid with a bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8 as security that the successful bidder will enter into a Contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after award of Contract a corporate Surety Bond, in a form acceptable the City of Orange City, for the faithful performance of the Contract, in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the amount of the Contract. The Bidder's security shall be in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the amount of the Bid and shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured state-chartered bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States, or by a certified share draft drawn on a state-chartered credit union in Iowa or a credit union chartered under the laws of the United States, or a Bid Bond on the form provided in the Contract Documents with corporate Surety satisfactory to the City of Orange City. The bid shall contain no conditions except as provided in the specifications. Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate Surety Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its Contract price. Said Bond shall be issued by a responsible Surety approved by the City of Orange City and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor and project and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the Contractor and shall also guarantee the maintenance of all improvements caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of four (4) years for all concrete paving improvements and for two (2) years for all utilities from and after acceptance by the city Payment to the Contractor for said improvements will be made in cash derived from cash on hand or such other funds as are legally available. The Contractor shall begin work after receipt of a Notice to Proceed, which is anticipated to be issued for 5th Street NE on April 21, 2020 and for Downtown Alley on June 1, 2020. All work on 5 th Street NE shall be substantially complete on or before September 1, 2020 and ready for final acceptance on or before September 15, 2020. All work on Downtown Alley shall be substantially complete on or before August 1, 2020 and ready for final acceptance on or before August 15, 2020. The City Council of Orange City reserves the right to defer acceptance of any proposal for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days after the date proposals are received and not proposal may be withdrawn during this period. The City Council of Orange City hereby reserves the right to waive informalities, reject any or all bids and enter into such contract as it shall be deemed in the best interest of the city.
