Project No. 19E3O Agency CORRECTIONS Institution GORDON CORRECTION CENTER, GORDON Title GCC Bridge Repair PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project involves the design of a new replacement 2-lane bridge and bridge approaches over the Eau Claire River at the main entrance road into the Gordon Correctional Center. The scope of work shall include evaluation of alternative bridge replacement designs in order for the owner to select a design that is the most cost effective for this site as well as the development of a budget estimate for the chosen bridge replacement option and a proposed bridge replacement schedule. The selected A/E team will also be tasked with the developing and production of all required design and bid documents per DFD standards. The project scope includes: demolition of the existing 20x 29 concrete span/steel girder and timber pile/abutment bridge and its replacement with a new bridge in its current location. Work will also include all work associated with modifying the bridge approaches to the new bridge (as needed) and any work to improve a secondary gravel access roadway to be used temporarily to access the facility during construction. In general, the work consists of the removal of an existing bridge carrying a private drive over the Eau Claire River and constructing a replacement bridge in the same location. The private drive approach roadway will be replaced at each end of the bridge for a distance before tying into the existing roadway. The new bridge work will include a cast-in-place concrete bridge deck on prestressed concrete girders, cast-in-place concrete abutments on driven steel piling, riprap embankments, and tubular steel railings. The approach work will include minor earthwork grading, asphalt pavement on base aggregate, guardrails, and site restoration.
