As of April 22, 2021, this project is in the design phase. An engineer has been selected for the project. Information regarding design team has not been disclosed. The project shall consist of the design for removal and new build of the bridge on Calhan Highway, 1.5 miles south of US Highway 24 and 1.08 miles north of Funk Road in northeastern El Paso County, Colorado. The project shall be constructed to replace aging infrastructure and ensure full freedom of movement for larger vehicles in the area, including emergency response vehicles and commercial trucking vehicles. The Calhan Highway Bridge ("the Bridge"), Structure No. EPC 0129-09.07, has a roadway width of approximately 24 feet, and the existing structure is a 2-span, 96'-8" precast, pre-stressed double tee bridge built in 1975. According to the attached 2018 Bridge Inspection Report, the Bridge had a Sufficiency Rating of 47.1.
