Course (incl structural & surface ...) 17 - Intermediate SR-90/US HWY-41/tamiami Trail From S-333 to S-334 The Project is located in western Miami-Dade County, Florida and situated within Township 54 South and Range 37 East, traversing through unincorporated Miami-Dade County. Within the Project limits, SR 90/Tamiami Trail is an east-west undivided rural arterial with design speed of 60 mph and posted speed of 55 mph, consisting of 12-foot wide travel lanes, and 10-foot wide outside shoulders (5-foot paved). The overall purpose of this project is Everglades restoration. Specifically, the Congressionally authorized purpose is "to restore more natural flow to ENP and Florida Bay, restoring habitat within the Park and ecological connectivity between the Park and the Water Conservation Areas." The project includes the reconstruction of the existing two-lane roadway and shoulders within the project limits from MP 13.85 to MP 24.42. The project includes realigning and raising the profile of the existing roadway approximately two feet, placement of geotextiles for roadway and base reinforcement, utility coordination, construction of 8 drainage culverts, 6 bridges, construction of drainage swales and harmonizing the proposed roadway to adjacent properties and canals within the project limits. As of November 12, 2020, a design/build firm has been selected. The project is currently in the design stage and a firm construction timeline has yet to be announced.
