Description of work: The work consists of providing traffic signal improvements for the signalized intersections of Hadley Street/Pickering Avenue, Mar Vista Street/Pickering Avenue, and Mar Vista Street/Greenleaf Avenue, as listed below: Hadley Street/Pickering Avenue Work includes but not limited to: upgrades to signal equipment such as a new traffic signal controller cabinet assembly with new controller cabinet, controller unit, and battery backup system, new traffic signal poles, new vehicle heads with 12" indications, LED countdown pedestrian heads, ADA compliant audible Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS) push button system, Emergency Vehicle Pre-emption system (EVP), internally illuminated street name signs, ADA compliant curb ramps, video detection system, signal cabling, installation of new conduits, and pull boxes, crosswalk enhancements, and minor striping modification indicated on plans. Mar Vista Street/Greenleaf Avenue Work includes but not limited to: upgrades to signal equipment such as a new traffic signal controller cabinet assembly with new controller cabinet, controller unit, and battery backup system, new vehicle heads with 12" indications, LED countdown pedestrian heads, ADA compliant audible Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS) push button system, Emergency Vehicle Pre-emption system (EVP), internally illuminated street name signs, ADA compliant curb ramps, video detection system, new service cabinet Type III-BF, signal cabling, installation of new conduits, and pull boxes, crosswalk enhancements, and minor striping modification indicated on plans. In accordance with the project specifications as specified hereinafter for the City of Whittier, Los Angeles County, State of California Standard Plans and Specifications latest edition and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD 2014, Revision 6), and in accordance with the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (The Greenbook), 2021 Edition, and the Standard Specifications of the State of California, Department of Transportation, latest edition. All improvements shall meet the health Department and ADA requirements. Contractor shall furnish all necessary labor, tools, materials, appliances, and equipment to complete the project. Contractor required to pull the permits required from the City of Whittier. Completion of work: The Contractor shall commence ordering all materials within ten (10) days after notification that the contract has been executed and shall be completed within sixty (60) working days after date set forth to start work in the Notice to Proceed. Wage rates: Pursuant to the provisions of Section 1770 to 1777, inclusive, of the Labor Code of the State of California, copies of the prevailing rate of per diem wages are on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Whittier, 13230 Penn Street, Whittier, California 90602. Interested parties may review them at that location. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to accept any portion of any bid, to waive any informality in a bid, and to make awards in the best interest of the City. No bidder may withdraw his/her bid for a period of twenty (20) working days after the bid is received.
