Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Ashfield, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
The Watson Road Bridge Replacement Project is located on a rural road in the Town of Ashfield located approximately .4 miles west from the intersection of Old Stage Road and Watson Road. The bridge spans over the Swift River which is considered a Cold-Water Fishery thus special attention shall be made to protect the stream during construction activities. Work shall be done per the Order of Conditions and the Army Corp of Engineers General Permit. Please note the Army Corp Permit is pending as it in review phase and will be added to the construction documents with an Addendum. The existing culvert is showing signs of distress with abutment settlement from scour within the stream which has caused the above roadway to give away. The proposed replacement project will replace the culvert with a precast concrete frame structure with MSE wingwalls and restore the stream channel to its natural state. An overhead utility may require temporary relocation or other measures to allow the concrete frames to be installed without conflict. Coordination between the utilities and the Town shall be performed. The work under this Contract shall consist of the items contained in the Invitation for Bids, including all the supervision, materials, equipment, labor and all other items necessary to complete said work in accordance with the Contract Documents.
