New construction of a military facility in San Diego, California. Completed plans call for the construction of a 62,000-square-foot military facility.

The project is to design and construct a new Child Development Center Complex consisting of two (2) single story Child Development Center facilities for infants, pre-toddlers, toddlers and pre-school aged children of military and authorized civilian personnel at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar, San Diego CA. It will consist of an Extra-Large (XL) (approximately 42,000sf) and a Medium (M) (approximately 20,000sf) classification. Combined total square feet for the two facilities shall not exceed 62,000 sf. The Child Development Center Complex shall provide adequate space for children between six weeks and 5 years of age. These two combined, will provide an essential facility offering military personnel and authorized civilians and their families with full time, quality childcare and development for about 462 children. This is in support of and in addition to the existing Facility Building 2740 located along Delta Road and Mitscher Way,which shall remain. The new facilities shall be single story reinforced Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU), reinforced concrete foundation, slab on grade and composite steel deck, standing seam metal roof over metal deck and steel framing. Functional programmed spaces will include entrance vestibule, lobby, reception/sign-in,administration offices and work areas, Multi-Purpose Room (Option 1 for XL), individual child activity rooms appropriately designed and sized for each children's age group, training room, staff break room, lactation room, central storage, restrooms for staff and public use, kitchen, laundry room, janitor's room, mechanical, electrical and telecommunication support spaces. Comply with the requirements of FC 4-740-14N Navy and Marine Corps Child Development Centers. The work will be located at Marine Corps Air Station(MCAS) Miramar, San Diego, California. *This project timeline has been extended due to the public health crisis.
