Renovation and addition to a library in Arapahoe, Nebraska. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 2,860-square-foot library; and for the addition of a 1,738-square-foot library.

The proposed renovation will address the space and accessibility challenges. A 1,720 square foot addition would add a community room dedicated to activities. A new ADA accessible entry and new accessible bathrooms will address our problem areas. There will also be 1,200 square feet of intensive renovations to better utilize the library spaces, increase security and overall library function. As of May 14, 2020, the project is in design. Bids are anticipated to be due in mid July and construction could begin in August 2020. Work of this proposed Contract comprises building construction, site development, renovation, and demolition, including general construction, structural, mechanical, and electrical Work. *ALL BID DOCUMENTS SHALL BE RETURNED to the office of Wilkins Architecture Design Planning, L.L.C., 2908 West 39th Street, Suite A, Kearney, Nebraska, 68845. The Project consists of a 1,738 square foot addition to the existing Arapahoe Public Library, along with the renovation of the entire existing building, which totals approximately 2,860 square feet. The south portion of the existing building will undergo major renovation, including the removal and replacement of the existing roof structure and ceiling, removal of existing interior and exterior masonry walls, interior finish work, and mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work. Renovation at the north portion of the existing building will be less extensive, primarily consisting of interior finish work and removal of some existing wood frame walls. All existing exterior walls will be refinished to match the new addition, and the existing metal roof panel will be removed and replaced with asphalt shingles. Site work is to include site demolition, grading, and paving, along with a bid alternate to provide a drive-thru lane along the east side of the building. The project includes multiple other bid alternates, including several exterior finish options, replacement of existing windows, access control, and replacement of the brick on the existing monument sign with stone. August 31,2020: Demoilition/Construction starts. December 21,2020. Substantial Completion. January 4, 2021: Final Completion.
