Renovation of a mixed-use development in Montreal, Quebec. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a 425,000-square-foot library; educational facility; and library.
The Fiat Lux project aims to redevelop the Library Complex and enhance its built heritage in order to ensure that the Complex remains at the heart of the downtown campus while redefining the concept of library, in this digital era, as a place cutting edge for research, teaching and learning. This redevelopment project will meet the basic needs of McGill University for decades to come. Note. The project value is estimated as high as $200 million. TIMELINE: Following changes to funding structures imposed by the Quebec government and re-evaluation of the its funding possibilities, the owner has decided to suspend work on the Fiat Lux library project. According to the owner's decision the project may proceed in reduced volume in an altered or scaled back version. If a new version of the project is approved, it will be followed when it proceeds to a design stage in a new separate report. Coverage of this report has been discontinued.
