The project consists of three Divisions of work. Contractors may bid on one, two, or three Divisions. A separate contract will be awarded for each Division. Bids which tie the Divisions together (contingent on receiving two or three divisions of work) shall not be allowed. The project consists of the following items and approximate quantities: Division 5 - site preparation; 32,620 C.Y. of earthfill; 70 - tile intakes; 24,459 L.F. of tile; 2,450 L.F. of grassed waterway; fertilizing, seeding, and mulching; and miscellaneous appurtenant work usually associated with a watershed improvement project. Division 6 - site preparation; 49,461 C.Y. of earthfill; 61 - tile intakes; 20,322 L.F. of tile; 3,500 L.F. of farm field fence, woven wire; 95 L.F. of 8-inch smooth steel pipe; 119 L.F. of 12-inch smooth steel pipe; 1,930 L.F. of grassed waterway; fertilizing, seeding, and mulching; and miscellaneous appurtenant work usually associated with a watershed improvement project. Division 7 - site preparation; 30,725 C.Y. of earthfill; 17 - tile intakes; 6,658 L.F. of tile; 76 L.F. of 8-inch smooth steel pipe; 224 L.F. of 6-inch smooth steel pipe; 430 L.F. of grassed waterway; fertilizing, seeding, and mulching; and miscellaneous appurtenant work usually associated with a watershed improvement project. The work under the proposed Contract shall commence upon issuance of the written Notice to Proceed. The proposed watershed improvements listed shall be fully completed on or before September 30, 2021. The Bidder agrees to pay as liquidated damages the sum of $1000 for each consecutive calendar day after the specified completion date that the project is not fully completed. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Section 26.8 of the Code of Iowa. Bid security shall be 5% of the bid amount. Contract Documents. Drawings and specifications governing the construction of the proposed improvements have been prepared by French-Reneker-Associates, Inc., Engineers and Surveyors, Fairfield, Iowa.
