Renovation of a municipal facility in Newton, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
The bids are for a single Prime Contract for interior improvements for new office facilities including: interior finishes (drywall, paint, interior countertop, flooring), sprinkler and electrical items at Legacy Plaza Building 18, Level 5. Bids shall be on a lump sum basis; segregated sub-bids will not be accepted. Work is anticipated to commence upon award of contract, and be completed by August 31, 2020, in one phase as shown on the Contract Documents. A public hearing will be conducted at a meeting to be held at Council Chambers of Newton City Hall, 101 W 4th Street S, Newton IA 50208, at 6:00PM., on the 6th day of July, 2020, at which time and place any person may appear and file objections to the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and the estimated cost of said project. Plans and specifications governing the construction of the proposed Work have been prepared by OPN Architects, Inc of Des Moines, Iowa. Bid security in the amount of 5% of the total bid in the form of certified check, credit union share draft, or surety bond written on an original AIA Document A310, Bid Bond is required for this project. The successful bidder will be required to provide surety Performance and Payment Bonds in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Sum. The award of the contract may be made by City of Newton to any responsible bidder or bidders offering suitable supplies, equipment and/or service at the lowest price taking into consideration the quality of materials or service in the best interest of the City of Newton. The right is reserved to reject any and all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract or contracts as shall be deemed in the best interest of the City of Newton. By virtue of statutory authority, preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa.
