Site work, renovation and addition to a conference / convention center in Montreal, Quebec. Conceptual plans call for the addition of a conference / convention center; for the renovation of a conference / convention center; and for site work for a conference / convention center.

The project consists of a partial covering of the Ville-Marie highway and an expansion of the Palais des Congrès de Montréal (Montreal Convention Centre). The aim is to increase the adjoining exhibition area on the same floor, from 19,000 m2 to 30,000 m2. The total area of the building would be increased from under 31,000 m2 to over 49,000 m2. With this expansion, the establishment will rise from third to first in Canada in contiguous exhibition space, which will allow the Société du Palais des Congrès de Montréal to remain competitive and continue to grow in a highly competitive market. TIMELINE: The project is in a preliminary stage and is included under the number 157 in the Quebec treasury board list of major projects with a status "under study". The Quebec government has just confirmed its intention to move forward with the project to modernize and expand the Montreal Convention Centre. According to the Quebec government this new phase will allow for intensified discussions with private and institutional partners in order to confirm the financial arrangements for the project. Owner expects that construction will start in 2027 or 2028 and will be completed before 2030. Notes: - The awarded consultant tbmaestro Inc has submitted to the owner a prepared structure condition report. Establishment of an opportunity dossier of the project has been completed. Scope of work, construction budget and timelines of the project realization have yet to be finalized. - Preliminary estimates have shown that the project value may be in the range between $221.7 and $332.6 million, without taking into account the costs of recovering the Ville-Marie expressway.
