Renovation of an educational facility in Charleston, South Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 18,059-square-foot, one-story above grade educational facility.
*A building permit was issued on December 9, 2022 by the City of Charleston. Silcox PE & Health Center is a 48,904 GSF 4-level facility built in 1939 as a Works Progress Administration project. The bldg. houses a mix of classrooms, one indoor sports space, health science labs & academic offices. This project includes: 1) exterior renovation to correct envelope deficiencies; 2) interior renovation of the 1st floor (18,059 GSF) to upgrade restrooms to meet ADA compliance; 3) replacing classroom technology & furnishings; 4) improving emergency egress. Experience/specialization with envelope repairs on a historic building, experience with projects using the Construction Management-at-Risk delivery method. Structural Engineer to evaluate deficiencies at existing metal roof trusses. This contract will provide on-site engineering and envelope assessment, stakeholder interviews and City coordination (BAR meeting), schematic design drawings, schematic construction budget with CM@R agent, review systems assessment and schematic design with CofC staff_ construction documents and contract administration. ANTICIPATED CONSTRUCTION COST RANGE: $3,500,000 TO $4,200,000
