Saving Project...

Site work for a water / sewer project in Plainfield, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

Little Bushkill Creek, a tributary to Bushkill Creek, is located primarily in Plainfield Township, Northampton County. The stream and streambanks have become degraded along the Plainfield Township Recreation Trail. Severe streambank erosion is evident while stream conditions show signs of degradation from sedimentation. Plainfield Township has developed a Pollutant Reduction Plan which requires 1,601 linear feet of streambank stabilization as part of the MS4 requirements. The plan identifies specific restoration sites in order to fulfill the stream length requirement for bank and sediment stabilization. In 2017, Wildlands began talking to the Township about pursuing riparian buffer restoration through a state grant opportunity. In continuing these discussions, the scope of the work has widened to include stream and floodplain restoration. Wildlands has agreed to partner as the project manager with the Township on this restoration effort and is working to secure funding for the project. Restoration of the stream channel will reduce erosion and sedimentation issues, increase flood capacity, and address safety concerns along the trail. Any buffer plantings after the initial stream restoration will provide streambank stabilization and erosion control, floodplain storage during storm events, wildlife habitat, and filtration of runoff. The requested proposal is for the completion of engineering design plans for stream restoration and streambank stabilization at six sites on Little Bushkill Creek, completion and submittal of the necessary Joint Permit package(s), and the development of a construction cost estimate for implementation of the designs. Initial conversations with PA DEP indicated this project may qualify for two separate Joint Permit submissions, though this will need to be verified by the selected firm. The goal of this project is to stabilize the streambanks using natural materials where possible, rather than the application of techniques such as gabion baskets or other hardscaping. Please contact the project manager if you have safety concerns or want to make special arrangements. All attendees will visit sites 1 - 6. Proposals will only be considered from vendors who have attended this mandatory pre-proposal meeting. Clarification Deadline: 8/24/2020 4:00 PM
