The Project consists of constructing streambank stabilization measures through channel re-grading, channel hardening using gabion baskets and riprap, stormwater pipe and manhole installation, and planting of native vegetation and sod. SCOPE OF WORK A. The work provided for in these specifications shall consist of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment and performing all work necessary to accomplish construction of the improvements depicted on the drawings and described within these specifications. The scope of this work includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Site demolition. Debris removal and disposal. This task will consist of removal and disposal of accumulated trash, fallen trees and other vegetative matter, rubble, demolition debris, and other accumulated debris within the project site. Debris that can reasonably be re-used for the project work, such as riprap and concrete rubble, may be re-used onsite at Owner's discretion. 3. Site clearing and grubbing. Owner has previously cleared all large trees and shrubs; however, contractor will be responsible for removal of stumps and remaining small brush. Contractor shall not clear or grub outside the limits of the drainage easement without prior written approval from the Owner and applicable homeowner. Clean clearing and grubbing debris that does not include more than trace amounts of non-vegetative debris, may be mulched for use in site stabilization. 4. At a minimum, erosion and sediment controls shall consist of a temporary construction entrance, inlet protection for the existing 48" CMP culvert under High Dr., sediment fence for disturbed slopes, and check dams along the disturbed channel. Maintenance of installed measures are the sole responsibility of the contractor. Additional measures may be required to adequately prevent soil loss, and are the sole responsibility of the contractor. 5. Earthworks. Contractor is responsible for excavation, filling, and compaction to reach the lines and grades shown on the drawings. Adequate compaction of embankments and gabion basket subgrades may require over-excavation in order to reach the minimum compaction requirements. 6. Outbuilding relocation for identified structures. Where practicable, existing structures shall be moved to a new location agreed to by the Owner and homeowner; where not practicable to move the structure, a new structure, of similar size and construction, shall be constructed at a location agreed to by the Owner and homeowner. 7. Channel re-grading and lining. Contractor will be responsible for re-grading the channel to the lines and grades shown in the drawings, including required over-excavation for drop structures and channel lining features. Channel shall be lined with the lining materials shown on the drawings, which include gabions and riprap. The channel bottom will include several drop structures and riprap erosion control measures. 8. Storm sewer extension shall include connection to the existing 48" CMP culvert and 24" RCP storm sewer. The extension of the 24" storm sewer will include installation of a manhole drop structure with field inlet. 9. Gabion wall construction, including construction of a suitable levelling pad, placement of nonwoven geotextile underlayment, and installation of geogrid reinforcement for gabion walls higher than 8 ft 10. Sidewalk replacement involving demolition of the existing sidewalk and retaining wall and construction of a new sidewalk to match the dimensions of the existing sidewalk. 11. Site stabilization will consist of placement and establishment of sod for backyard areas, native vegetation, and trees and shrubs as shown on the drawings. For seeded areas, biodegradable erosion control blankets shall be used to minimize erosion and promote vegetative growth. Contractor shall fertilize according to supplier recommendations and/or a soils test. Trees and shrubs shall be fertilized based on a soils test. 12. Other incidental and related work as set forth in these specifications and the detail drawings and as directed by the Engineer to make a complete and finished job. B. Work, including site access, conducted as part of this project shall be constrained to the existing drainage easement unless the contractor negotiates additional rights of access or temporary construction easements with the homeowners.
